Yarrow’s Latin name, achillea millefolium, stems from the Greek Hero Achilles, who was said to have used this herb to heal warriors on the battlefield. This treasured plant has been revered among herbalists in Europe, North America and Asia as a first aid go-to for its ability to slow and stop the flow of blood among many other abilities.

Yarrow is abundant in our bio region… we mindfully forage and grow plenty of it in the Slow Garden!

As a hydrosol, yarrow works magic on the skin… here are a few of its benefits:

• Soothes red & inflamed skin (eczema & psoriasis)

• Prevents, calms & heals acne flare-ups,

• Relieves itchiness from bites or stings and also repels bugs

• Helps soothe a sunburn

• Astringent effect (helps tighten pores)

• Heals wounds

All the while, offering a sense of calm and clarity while supporting energetic boundaries. Our yarrow hydrosol smells slightly floral and herbaceous.

"A Hydrosol is a plant medicine comprised of the "spirit" of a plant, also sometimes called aromatic or floral water. The alchemical process used to produce hydrosol is called steam/hydro distillation, utilizing a hand-pounded copper alembic still. The art of steam distillation dates back to 500 BC, when Persian alchemists created copper stills to distill beloved rose water, as well as other fine balms and perfumes. Copper has been prized as an optimum metal in the Alchemical tradition, due to its natural antimicrobial properties and incredible rate of heat conduction."

*Slow’s hydrosols are crafted in our small home-based apothecary through traditional copper steam and/or hydro distillation. Our hydrosols have a 12-month expiration date; however, this can be extended by storing your hydrosol in the fridge. This may change the scent profile slightly and I recommend storing in a cool, dark area away from direct sunlight for the first 12 months and then storing in the fridge for up to another year. Exposure to air, light and heat will increase oxidation in plant waters and may change the PH, making them unsuitable for your skin. Please store properly to optimal efficacy and potency!

Even though ALL of Slow's creations are made with pure and organic ingredients, and it is highly unlikely that any reaction will occur, it is still wise to always begin with a small amount to test for irritation.

Each product is made in micro batches by me in our home-based apothecary and there may be some variation from batch to batch, but ratios remain the same.

Hydrate!

Love this product and feel like it’s the key to hydrating my skin. I also think it’s helped with my perioral dermatitis.

Nice pre-moisture

I’ve never been much of a hydrosol user, but I do prefer this one. It feels nice prior to any slow botanical products. Also nice as a quick refresher throughout the day although Slow botanical products keep my skin moisturized all day long.
